Thieves Steal Cross and Statutes from Salford Church
A statue of Jesus on a crucifix was stolen from outside a church using an electric saw. Along with a kneeling angel and a kneeling figure of St Bernadette.
St Luke's in Irlams o'th Height had three statues stolen overnight between January 21 and 22 from outside the church. These three statues being a statue of Jesus on a crucifix, along with a kneeling angel and a kneeling figure of St Bernadette. Parishioner Paul Ashton told the Manchester Evening News: “The parishioners are shocked that such a theft should happen to us. The statue of Jesus on the crucifix was originally in our old church and means so much to us." It is thought that the thieves used an electric saw for this and 'drag marks' on the ground show the figures were likely taken to a vehicle in the car park.
