Observatory’s Newly-Released Report: Over 500 Documented Cases in 2016 and 2017

The cases in Observatory's report for 2016 and 2017 represent the range of hostilities Christians experience in their daily lives: from the ‘squeeze’ of interference with religious liberty, parental rights, freedom of expression and conscience, to the ‘smash’ of physical attacks, and vandalism of churches and cemeteries.

This report explains the terminology used by the Observatory to describe the situation for Christians in Europe, provides examples, and offers recommendations to policymakers, opinion leaders, and the public.

"Along with brutal attacks on Christians and Christian buildings, monuments, and cemeteries, we have also seen Christian-run businesses financially ruined, Christians being forced to choose between their moral values and their professions, Christian student groups silenced on campuses, and overreaching governmental interference with parental rights. The fundamental rights of freedom of religion, conscience, and expression are rendered meaningless if they cannot be freely exercised by all Europeans," noted the Observatory's Executive Director.
