Church in Aldingen Defiled After Failed Burglary Attempt

After breaking into a Protestant church in Aldingen, Germany, unknown individuals urinated in the sanctuary and caused property damage when no valuables were found.
In Aldingen, Germany, the Protestant Mauritius Church was broken into during the night between Friday and Saturday by unknown individuals who forced entry through a side door using a chisel. The perpetrators stole an empty safe from the sacristy and vandalised the space by urinating on furniture and church documents, including irreplaceable operating records for the bells.
Attempts to discharge a fire extinguisher failed, but the damage—estimated at around 500 euros—was compounded by the destruction of furnishings, which were later discarded. Sacristan Bernd Springer and Pastor Oliver Helmers confirmed the extent of the desecration, with Helmers noting the lingering smell of disinfectant during Sunday service. Police are investigating and have requested public assistance in identifying suspects.
