Minors Vandalise Church Grounds
The parish of Viatosto was repeatedly targeted by vandals: open taps, glued candles, and a burnt lighter were among the troubling signs discovered by the priest.
In Viatosto, a district of Asti, the local parish suffered a series of disturbing acts of vandalism, most likely committed by groups of young boys. Father Giancarlo Iraldi reported that he had found garden taps left fully open, allowing water to flow unchecked. Inside the church, candles had been glued together, a burnt lighter was discovered, and magazines were strewn across the floor. Food and drink remnants had also been left near the building, despite the gates being locked each evening around 7:30 p.m. These incidents occurred while the town’s public lighting system functioned intermittently, leaving the area in darkness during a Monday evening inspection. The events raised serious concerns among residents about safety and respect for sacred spaces.
