Cathedral Prayer Book Desecrated with Insults and Blasphemies
A prayer book near the relics of Blessed Maria Raffaella Cimatti in Alatri was defaced with insults and blasphemies.
On November 25, 2025, in Alatri, Italy, a prayer register located in the San Paolo Cathedral near the relics of Blessed Maria Raffaella Cimatti was defaced with offensive phrases, insults, and blasphemies. The incident was discovered by worshippers and members of Cimatti’s religious order who regularly prayed at the site. The register, intended for personal prayers and religious vows, was described as having been “profaned” by individuals who wrote disrespectful messages.
The act was criticised by parishioners and on social media, where commenters condemned it as an offense against the community’s faith. Days earlier, a missal had been stolen from the nearby church of San Francesco, though authorities indicated the two events were not connected. Both incidents were reported as examples of intolerance toward Christian symbols
