Repeated vandalism seals church doors with cement in Loimil.
A church in Loimil was targeted in a repeated act of vandalism in which doors were sealed with cement.
On 7 March 2025, the Romanesque church of Loimil (A Estrada, Spain) was targeted in a deliberate act of vandalism in which unknown individuals sealed the doors with cement, blocking access to the place of worship. The damage was discovered shortly before a scheduled Mass, which had to be cancelled as a result.
The perpetrators obstructed the sacristy door lock and frame with cement and sealed the main wooden entrance to the ground, making it impossible to open. Similar actions were carried out at the nearby chapel of A Saleta, where the lock was also filled with cement.
The same method was used to block access to a local social building, indicating a coordinated act affecting multiple community sites.
This incident follows previous acts of vandalism in the same parish in recent months, raising concerns about repeated targeting of religious and community spaces. Authorities have been notified and an investigation is expected.
