Altar Cross Stolen from High Altar in Church in Thalfang
A wooden altar cross was stolen from the high altar of a Catholic church in Thalfang, directly targeting a central object of religious significance within the church.
The incident occurred between 2 March 2025, 18:00, and 3 March 2025, 11:30, at the St. Matthäus Church on Lückenburger Straße. Unknown perpetrators entered the unlocked church and removed a wooden altar cross from the high altar. The cross is estimated to have a value of approximately 750 euros.
Police have opened an investigation and are appealing for witnesses who may have observed suspicious persons in the area during the relevant time period.
