Gravestones at Churchyard in Maidstone Targeted with Swastikas
At least six swastikas were etched into gravestones at a churchyard in Maidstone, targeting burial sites associated with a Christian place of worship. The incident prompted an investigation by local authorities.
The vandalism was discovered on 8 March 2025 at the churchyard of All Saints Church, where multiple gravestones were found marked with Nazi symbols. A passerby reported the damage, stating that the markings appeared to have been made “in the last week or so.” The symbols were carved into gravestones, some of which date back 200 to 300 years, directly affecting burial sites connected to the church.
The witness described the act as “quite disrespectful,” noting the historical and commemorative nature of the graves. Reverend John Richardson confirmed that the church would investigate the incident.
